Empowering Our Communities: Join Us for Civic Engagement and Action

The Empower Your Voice: Tools for Civic Engagement event, hosted by the Linn Benton Lincoln Health Equity Alliance (LBLHEA) on September 28, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM at the Corvallis Community Center, is designed to empower community members with the knowledge and tools to actively participate in shaping their communities. This event is for everyone—whether you’re new to civic engagement or have been involved for years—and offers valuable insights and practical skills for all.

Participants will engage in workshops covering key topics such as voting rights, effective advocacy, and how to identify misinformation. To ensure accessibility and inclusivity, the event will be available in both in-person and hybrid formats, with Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL) support provided throughout the day.

One of the key highlights of the event will be a panel discussion featuring local leaders who will share their experiences in representation, advocacy, and public service. This session aims to inspire attendees to apply what they’ve learned in their own communities, whether that’s through organizing, voting, or even considering a run for public office.

In addition to workshops and the panel, outreach tables will be available, where attendees can connect with local organizations, access resources, and explore opportunities for further involvement. Childcare, refreshments, and a food truck will be available to ensure that the event is accessible and welcoming to all.

The Empower Your Voice: Tools for Civic Engagement event aims to build a well-informed, engaged community that is ready to take action on critical issues like anti-racism, housing, and food justice. LBLHEA is committed to advancing health equity by ensuring that the voices of marginalized communities are heard and valued. By the end of the event, we hope participants will feel empowered and equipped to make meaningful changes in their communities.
